The President's Pen - Issue #2

Put your parking space holders away, spring is finally here and Harrisburg has thawed. Thank you to everyone who attended the Annual Meeting. Special thanks to our speakers Dr. Eric Darr, Dan Deitchman and Mayor Linda Thompson, and our sponsors Troegs Brewing Co., Bricco Restaurant, and Harrisburg University of Science and Technology. At our Annual Meeting this year, we announced the HYP Employer Assisted Housing Program. The program will provide approved applicants with $1,000 toward their closing costs on any home purchased within city limits. This program was created in partnership with the Harrisburg 2020 committee and from investments by city based employers. Along with the HYP program the city announced a $5,000 discount on city owned homes. In addition, Dauphin County has a loan program where first-time homebuyers can receive up to $3,000 toward the purchase of a home. Loan repayment is due upon sale of the home. With all of these great programs and the federal homebuyer program, there has never been a better time to purchase a home in the city of Harrisburg.
